Release Details:

This mobile release delivers on the functionality behind several features where the groundwork was laid in last week’s JL Web Release. Now that the back-office settings are in place, this release introduces those features on the mobile app, giving engineers access to improved tools for job creation, site history visibility, visit completion and invoice accuracy. These updates are all about improving control, reducing admin and ensuring that key information is captured in the moment. Read on for what’s now live in the app 👇

1. Site History View – See Full Job Context Across Contractors 🏗️📱

Having access to previous work on-site helps engineers make faster, more informed decisions but until now, subcontractors and main contractors couldn’t see each other’s job history on the mobile app. That limited visibility sometimes led to duplicated effort or missing information.

With this mobile release, you can now enable cross-party visibility of job site history in the mobile app, letting all parties (both main contractors and subcontractors) view relevant records, statuses and notes from past visits.

New features include:

  • A new setting in back-office lets you allow subcontractors and main contractors to view each other’s historical job data on mobile

  • Once enabled, engineers can view previous visits, status updates and job notes

  • Job records are clearly labelled in the Site History tab as; Own (Tenant), Subcontractor and Main Contractor

  • Accessed in mobile via: Visit Details → Site Jobs History

Why this matters
This gives engineers the full picture. Whether you're coordinating across partners or picking up work mid-contract, shared visibility helps prevent repeated visits, improves communication and keeps everyone on the same page. 🔍

2. Invoice Nominal Code Enforcement 📊

Getting invoices right at the point of entry is essential, especially when your system feeds into an accounting software. To support cleaner financial data, this release brings the Invoice Nominal Code Enforcement feature introduced in last week’s JL web release directly to the mobile app. Now, if your system has been configured to require nominal codes, engineers and field staff will need to enter them before they can save or submit any invoice data. 🧾

New features include:

  • The Nominal Code field is now enforced in the mobile app when the setting is active

  • Applies to all relevant invoice items within the mobile app

  • If a required code is missing, the user will see a clear error prompt and cannot proceed

How is this beneficial?
This update helps ensure your financial tracking is accurate from the moment an invoice is actioned out on site. No more chasing missing codes or backing dating corrections. It enforces your rules where it counts: in the field, when the invoice is logged. 💼

See here for more information on this and the setting within the back-office.

3. Engineer-Specific Control Over Mobile Job Logging 📝

Not every engineer needs to create jobs and in some cases, you might want to limit that ability altogether. This release gives you tighter control over who can log jobs in the mobile app by letting you manage the setting per engineer.

It’s a simple change that gives you more oversight, especially useful for teams managing subcontractors, trainees or region-specific workflows 👷⚙️

What’s new:

  • This setting replaces the previous global, Joblogic activated request for engineer job logging

  • When disabled for the engineer, the engineer won’t see the job logging option at all

  • Applies to all areas of the mobile app, including the visit menu and home screen

Why this helps
Job creation in the field is powerful but not always appropriate for every engineer. This update helps you control that functionality at a more granular level, reducing the risk of duplicate jobs, errors or unnecessary admin. It’s a cleaner, smarter way to manage permissions. 🔐

See here for more information on this and the setting within the back office.

4. Mandatory Attachments on Visit Completion 📸

Whether it’s for compliance, audit trails or customer reassurance, attaching files or photos at the end of a job is often essential, but not always remembered.

This mobile update brings into effect the controls introduced in last week’s JL Web release, allowing you to require engineers to upload at least one attachment before they can complete a visit in the app. It ensures that nothing slips through the cracks, especially when engineers are moving fast between jobs. 🛑🧰

What’s new:

  • If enabled for a customer, engineers must upload at least one file or photo (attachment) before they can complete a visit in the app

  • This works across both standard completion and Quick Complete workflows

  • If no attachment is present, a clear error prompt will appear and block visit completion

How this helps

It takes the pressure off the back-office to chase missing evidence. Whether you need photos for health & safety, ‘before and after’ shots or documents for asset compliance, this setting ensures that attachments are captured before the visit is closed, not once it’s too late.

See here for more information on this and the setting within the back-office.

Bug Fixes 🛠️

We’ve been working behind the scenes to smooth out a few bumps in the mobile experience. Below is a sum-up of recent fixes aimed at improving stability, accuracy and day-to-day usability. 📲

  • We’ve fixed an issue where Timesheets sometimes failed to load on the mobile app, showing a blank screen instead of the expected data

  • There was a problem with the 'Location and Ventilation Checks - JL v1' form that triggered an error message when entering certain values. This has now been resolved

  • We’ve corrected a mismatch between Timesheet hours shown in the ‘week view’ on mobile and the records displayed in the back-office.

  • On Quick Completes, the visit completion date and time could sometimes revert to default values after further actions (like adding notes or attachments). This has been fixed to ensure that reporting remains accurate

Thanks for bearing with us while these issues were being resolved. If you were affected and took the time to report them, we really appreciate it. We're sorry for any disruption caused and always welcome further feedback if you notice any more things that need fixing. 🌟

That’s it for this month in the app but keep an eye out for our October 2025 release with our next set of great new updates🎉

As always, your feedback helps shape future improvements so let us know if you have any!
